I never realized that any of what my family did daily was considered Hoodoo until it found me with that name on the internet. I had just been doing what we had always done. We have always played Gospel music while cleaning on a Sunday, or poured a cap of ammonia in our bath every now. Collecting pennies in jars was nothing new to me. After a very long journey of realizing that neither deep Southern Baptist Christianity nor new age white-centric spirituality resonated for me, I was led to Hoodoo.
